Our Story

Jem is the founder, heart, and hands behind The Beauty Jem – a beauty studio built on passion, purpose, and the belief that when you look good, you feel unstoppable.

From the moment she could hold a brush, Jem was immersed in beauty and self-expression. As a little girl, she turned her home into a runway where she would dress up, do her own makeup and hair, and put on fashion shows for her family. 

​

Even then, she was a visionary. She was the girl selling handmade art to classmates, always building, always creating. She didn’t know it yet, but she was an entrepreneur in the making.

​

Like many daughters of immigrant parents, she followed “safe” path. Jem enrolled at the University of British Columbia to pursue science and become a dermatologist, a career that felt both secure and tied to her love of beauty.

​

But one and a half years in, she felt the ache of misalignment. Like so many 20-year-olds, she was caught between who she thought she should be and who she truly was. She began questioning everything: her purpose, her path, her power.

She knew one thing for certain – her gift was in her hands. In creating. In connecting. But how? What vessel could carry that kind of impact?

 

In the stillness of uncertainty, God graciously guided her back to beauty. This time, through lashes.

What started as a personal self-care ritual sparked something deeper. Lashes made her feel feminine, put-together, and powerful. It reminded her of that little girl in the mirror, transforming herself with confidence.

​

While scrolling through Instagram in February 2023, Jem came across Miriam Chicanot, founder of Lashthetic Pro and instantly resonated with her story. And before she knew it, she was in her first lash class with Miriam – unsure of the journey ahead but very determined.

​

Since then, The Beauty Jem has helped transform the confidence of hundreds of women. But to Jem, it’s never just about the lashes or brows.

​

It’s the three-hour conversations. The laughs, the tears, the advice, the unfiltered girl talk. It’s the moment a client opens her eyes, sees herself, and feels beautiful.
